Doorway is the Drop-in Centre for homeless and marginalised people in North Wiltshire.
Pictures & Words was an art project, aimed at helping guests at Doorway, explore and express their thoughts and feelings using photography, collage and creative writing.
Each CD case holds an individual artwork, created during weekly workshops with artist, Julia Warin.
Julia worked with young teenage girls at The Girls Group, run by Barnardo’s. Over 10 weeks, they worked with collage, paint, drawing and words to create the elements which went into the finished mural panels for Barnardo’s offices.
Looking at colour combinations, words of popular songs, retro 60s and 70s graphics, textiles & design elements and considering positive, active images of girls, they generated a mass of material. All this was then combined to create the final piece, reflecting the bubbly excitement of the group and the diverse identities and interests of the girls.
A project with adults experiencing homelessness, facilitated by four artists working in both 2D and 3D media over several months at a drop-in centre in Trowbridge. A purpose-built studio was created as a safe and welcoming space fully equiped with materials and tools.

ArtSpark worked with schools in Bournemouth and Poole to create panels from recycled plastic bags and waste. Designed by the students and then stitched on sewing machines the individual artworks where then assenbled into banners and window panels.
ArtSpark visited John Bentley School in Calne to launch a project and run workshops inspiring innovation and creativity to make wearable art from recycled/reclaimed materials. The end result was a fashion show and exhibition to show off what had been achieved.
Numinous continues from where Kiosk stops. It takes the reverence of a product, logo, brand and the aspiration of ownership to the level of cult or religious awe. If a found object can convey and resonate meaning, how much more potent could the found designer label be? Numinous is as much a question as a statement.
Numinous was designed and made by Julia Warin with assistance from Jeff Pigott and technical support from Keith Wright.

The Doorway Women’s Group met every week to provide the opportunity to meet, share their daily life experiences, learn new skills and empower each other. The group have taken part in a wide range of activities and made lots of beautiful items, and in 2013 undertook; knitting, French knitting and crochet with Julia.
The group also produced a 6ft knitted tree called “The Tree of Many Things” using recycled materials from the local scrap store. This was a huge source of creativity and amusement.
Following previous years of unprecedented rainfall and flooding around Dorset, CLS (Communities Living Sustainably in Dorset) commissioned ArtSpark to engage creatively with people to raise awareness of the local impacts of climate change and show how communities can respond to that change.
After consultation in and around Dorchester we devised two board games as a fun and stimulating activity for participants to take part in and to better understand the effects that climate change will possibly have in their communities.
The games were presented at various venues around the town and assisted CLS in gathering a better understanding of the concerns and needs of residents.
